Ta Prohm

Ta Prohm is probably the most famous temple after Angkor Wat. With its instant fame from "Tomb
Raider", I was skeptical that it would live up to its reputation - I thought its fame had more to
do with the movie than anything else. Ta Prohm exceeded my expectations. It is one of the few
temples that has not been conditioned - it is as the French explorers found it in the 19th
century, still well immersed in the jungle. It wasn't clear to me whether the trees were damaging
the sandstone walls of Ta Prohm or whether after all these centuries they were lending support.
I suspect a bit of both.
All these shots were taken in the early morning - most before 8:00am. An early start gurantees
great light and, more importantly, few tourists. By 8:30, the crowds begin to arrive with almost
everyone wanting a picture of him/herself where Angelina Jolie got swallowed by the ground.

Truth be told, I could have spent every day at Ta Prohm - easily my favorite.
