Some scolars believe Banteay Srei, or Citadel of the Women, was constructed entirely by women.
Its incredible ornate carvings in deep red sandstone make it the most heavily decorated and most
beautiful of the Angkor temples ... I have to agree that it has a woman's touch to it! Though not
nearly as large as some of the other temples, its beauty make it worth the hour drive to arrive
before the other tourists. If you go first thing in the morning, you have the added benefit of
passing through small towns as they wake up to start their day. This was as enjoyable as the
temple itself. This temple was our favourite after Ta Prohm.
