My live audience of 2 for a talk that I giving at NIA/NIH virtual conference on the research evidence of consolidation and private equity impact on our health care. Two points. First point, I am going on a rant here. Health care is abstract concept for many until they need it. The concern is when your health care professional is in a situation where it not about the care and compassion you need, but on profit is a sad state of affair. Private equity look at Hospice and other segments of the health care system as profits to be made at the expense of dying persons and their family. They don't care. They will care when it is their mother or themselves. Bottom line, no one gets out of dealing with a dysfunctional health care system that is now more about $$ than care. Simply, sad state of affairs. Second point, I do love that I can give a talk in my birkenstocks with injured knee elevated and don't have to deal with flying to DC, staying in a hotel under construction, and worrying about the puppy spending too much time in a crate. So for me, virtual meetings are great. Happy Friday - turn the screen off, take your self or you plus pooches for nice long walk.
