In April we took a trip to Texas with the goals of seeing the wildflowers and various birds in addition to the cities of Austin, San Antonio and the hill country. Due to the drought and the wildfires there were essentially no wildflowers along the roads. However, we did see some great flowers at several botanical gardens. We stayed on the outskirts of Austin and San Antonio, in addition to spending some time in the hill country at Neals lodge in Concan, TX - a birding destination, and one night in Frederickburg, which was supposed to be our launching point for various wildflower drives.
The temperature was mostly in the 90's, about 10 degrees higher than normal for this time of year, but fortunately it was overcast part of most days and fairly breezy at times as well, which made it more comfortable but didn't help with photos. Pictures are broadly grouped by area and for once include images that are NOT only birds. These images are mainly a log of our trip and not always the same quality as in some of my other folders due to distance, light, weather conditions, etc. Enjoy and comments welcome. Any corrections or additions to titles of flowers, birds, etc. appreciated.

Regardless of the wildfires and drought, it looks like you had a really nice trip. (There was a drought the year we went too, so we didn't do so well on wildflowers either!) Neal's Lodge and the Frio Bat Cave are such cool locations!
Nice images, Joan. Looks like an interesting trip and the bat cave visit must have really been something! Too bad about the drought but at least you did get to see some beautiful flowers in the gardens.
