This landing strip was not exactly what you would call level. Planes land going up the hill, of course, and take off going down. There was a weight restriction on the single engine planes taking off here, as they need to pull up sharply upon takeoff to get out of the valley and avoid hitting the other side. Flights in or out were forbidden after 10am, when gusts could pick up over the mountaintops and make this sharp pull-up impossible. These factors complicated my efforts to get myself and my party back home.
