White Mesa Natural Bridge

White Mesa is an area approximately 12 miles north of Tonalea and accessible for the most part by dirt roads. Note, Tonalea is about 24 miles northeast of Tuba City along Highway 160. At Tonalea you have to take route 21 (mostly dirt) to reach White Mesa and see the White Mesa Natural Bridge.

To get close enough for a decent photograph of the White Mesa Natural Bridge a standard wheel-base 4-wheel drive vehicle is required (there is a bit of sand to drive over ... it's not bad but it is sand and therefore some care is required). If you driving a Hummer ... in my opinion just forget about taking it because there are some very narrow sections you must pass through.

By the way, my timing for this shot was the middle of afternoon and NOT appropriate for good illumination; this natural bridge should be shot in the early morning (or possibly at sunset for a silhouette of the bridge).
