The woodpecker made quite a racket as it fine tuned its nest cavity, and on several
occasions disposed of the tree material after enlarging its nest. Note the resin on the tree
which is of special concern for the RCW during prescribed and natural burns in
wildlife management areas where the woodpeckers are known to exist.
