Josy, your caption makes this one more interesting. The composition is good, but if the subject is the gulls, then maybe a wider aperture to focus more on them and less on the rest of the scene would work better. Also, it feels like the contrast is too low, but I can see teh dark rubbish bins (?) and clothing, so maybe it's not a simple issue after all. You could accept that you're going to clilp the darker shadows big time to allow for greater overall contrast, which may not matter as those areas are so small anyway. Alternatively, maybe you could choose a different mono conversion to provide more contrast through more of the image (if that's even possible) or, if you were keen enough, you could possibly be selective in converting/processing different parts of the image separately. AS it is, I think your image has a lot more potential than you're allowing it to show as it's largely too flat.
