Powerful Stuff

Ella. Ella...... Just saying her name makes me smile. Ella. I love each of my girls more than anything else in this world, but Ella is at that stage in life where she just steals your heart every, single day. Of all of them, she is the one that I would do anything to stop the clock. Maybe because she is my last. Maybe because she hasn’t been corrupted by a corrupt world. Maybe because she watches the Wizard of Oz and truly wants to move there one day.

I used to play poker....a lot. I stopped playing a while back because it just stopped being fun because of a guy that went who we will just call “Bob”. “Bob” was horrible, had the manners to match, and would showdown every....single.... hand. It was terrible. Anyway, Bob has been voted out of the game so I am back. I was getting ready to go, and Ella comes to me with the most beautiful macaroni necklace I have ever seen. The macaroni was colored, all on an orange ribbon. Now I understand why the Native Americans put so much stock in the necklaces they made. This macaroni necklace is powerful stuff. Powerful indeed.

I wore it to the game. Not under my shirt. I wore it out for everyone to see. I wore it proudly and told everyone what it was, though most of them have kids, so no explanation was really needed. Well, the magic wasted no time in getting going. My first 10 hands or so were all solid, playable hands. I won the first 5 or 6 dealt hands and knocked out half my table single handedly. I ended up coming in second (out of 14) and made a few bucks.

Poker is a game of skill, to be sure, but there is a lot of luck in it too. Those that rely solely on skill never win and are always mad. To be wearing a good luck charm like I had tonight should be considered illegal. This necklace will be put into my poker box and brought out for every game now, even if it stops winning.

Ella. Ella......Ella. :)

Ha ha ha...Bob.

Ella is a sweet girl...even though she called my girl "grumpy".

Oh, great shot, by the way. I love the extremely shallow depth of field. Did you use a macro lens?

That's very sweet of Ella. Your real good luck is to have such wonderful kids, but you know that. :-)
