Cody Horse Camp

The Cody Horse Camp is located in the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and was opened for public use on Sept. 17, 2005

The new horse camp, conceived by former district ranger Harry Cody, was planned and constructed with the assistance of the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, the Lewis County Chapter of Backcountry Horsemen of Washington and the White Pass School District Discovery Team.

The new Cody Horse Camp is located about 29 miles southeast of Randle, Washington
Elevation 3100 feet
Directions from Randle:
Head south (across river) bare left in about one mile and follow FS 23 18 miles to FS 21, bare left onto FS 21 and follow FS 21 about 4 miles to FS 56. Turn right onto FS 56, pass Adams Fork Camp ground, road crosses the Cispus River and turns to gravel. Stay on FS 56 about 3 miles to turn off to Orr Creek Snow park and Keenes Horse camp (don't turn here), then 1.7 miles further on FS 56. You'll come to a small road to the right (FS 054), don't turn here, then cross the Muddy Fork Creek and turn right on FS 059 road . Follow it 1/4 mile and turn left on FS 060 road. Your there.

The new camp is adjacent to the Klickitat trail system, and the Klickitat Horse Trail 7A. For this year, use of the camp is free and no passes are required.

The camp features 16 pull-through campsites, each with picnic tables, fire ring and highlines. The camp also provides a stock watering trough and hand pump, a vault toilet and a large day-use area with a mounting assist ramp.

I just heard about Cody Horse Camp while camping at Elbe Hills Horse Camp with Bob Shonka, President of BCHW...This camp sounds wonderful. I am still trying to find a trail map of that area so I won't be riding "blind". Planning on going next week. Great to have a NEW horse camp...

YOU GUYS DID A FAB JOB ON THIS CAMP LOOKING FORWARD TO USING IT.AND JIM YOUR PICTURES ARE GREAT YOU HAVE A GOOD EYE OF WHAT TO CAPTURE ON FILM.THE TREE ONE ALMOST LOOKS LIKE IT GREW UPSIDE DOWN, MEANING THE BRANCHES LOOK LIKE ROOTS.I WAS THINKING YOU SHOULD GET AHOLD OF A LITTLE SMURF STATUE AND FIND A BIGGER GROUP OF MUSHROOMS AND PUT IT AMONGST THEM AND SNAP A PHOTO, IT WOULD BE TOO COOL.LOL THANKS AGAIN ON THE NEW CAMP.
