Dr. Charles W. Nichols, Vice President and General Manger of Allied Chemical, built this French Norman style house on 40 acres of West Orange farmland originally purchased in 1912. It was completed in 1933 and served the family until 1963 when Allied Chemical purchased and used it as a conference and training center. In 1995 the Knowles family acquired and restored the property. Today it is used as a special occasion facility for conferences and weddings.
