A historical marker on the nearby road states it is New York State's highest waterfalls, a celebrated scenic site in 19th century America
and painted several times by most of the artists of the Hudson River School.
Note: Getting to Kaaterskill Falls requires about a half-mile hike from NY 23A over hilly and rocky terrain.
