It is a fen or seep. The ones in this picture are growing in full sun, but most of them prefer some shade.

Wow, this is amazing!
I grow these cyps myzelf on my balcony (in Amsterdam) and here's the proof that th C. californicum can be grown in full sun. What surprises me most is that the soil does not seem wet (hence the sitting on the ground). Or was it a fen after all?
