2007-05-28 Day trip to the Francis Marion National Forest

2007-05-29 Day trip to the Francis Marion National Forest for late spring orchids and whatever else I could find. The area is bone dry, and I believe that it affected the intensity of the orchid bloom this year. However, I did manage to find almost everything I expected to see, and them some... I found a huge population of Sarracenia flava varieties just over the rise from an area I regularly visit - saw it for the first time and was awestruck. Can't wait to see it in bloom next year.
