The bongo must be one of the best looking yet least known animals on the planet. Among the largest species found in African rainforests, this handsome antelope is chestnut coloured with creamy-white facial markings, vertical body stripes and lower limb flashes. The horns slope elegantly backwards, for easier movement through forest thickets.
