Witley Court, Worcestershire

Witley Court in Worcestershire is a place we have been visiting for over 20 years. Although the house is a ruin, English Heritage have done a great job of restoring the gardens and main fountain.

The house was originally built as a Jacobean manor house. It was expanded to a mansion in the 19th century. Between 1846 and 1937 it was the home of the Earls of Dudley. The house fell into decline after 1937 after a fire caused extensive damage.

I have dated the photographs with their year in the title so the progress in restoration of the gardens and fountain can be appreciated.

An amazing mansion house with majestic grounds and almost ruined by a sad turn of fate from the fire. It still looks magnificent against the gardens and fountain and the church that survived. I cannot wait to visit it! Thanks for sharing this awesome gallery, John.VVV Graeme
