West front

Ely Cathedral

The western side of the cathedral features the west tower and the south-west transept with its two smaller towers. There was a north-west transept but this was demolished in the 15th century following a partial collapse. Recent consideration of rebuilding the north-west transept came to an abrupt end when the cost was estimated at £45 million.

Fantastic color and light in this beautiful composition, John. Too bad they decided against the reconstruction, but that would be a pretty pricey project! V.
