Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore – Offshore – Michigan

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is unquestionably best viewed from the waters of Lake Superior. The two-hour catamaran trip along the shoreline from the town of Munising is a journey that reveals the most spectacular collection of massive cliffs, beautiful arches and colorful stained sandstone formations. It’s hard to single out any individual formation as the highlight of the trip. Miners Castle is majestic, Lovers’ Leap arch is picturesque, Indian Head is massive, Grand Portal Point is, well, grand, and it’s all topped off by seeing Spray Falls forcefully empty into the lake from a sandstone cliff. And there are numerous other spots in between that are just as beautiful, interesting and photogenic.
