Times Square, in Midtown Manhattan, is one of the world's most visited attractions drawing an estimated 50 million visitors annually with approximately 330,000 people passing through it each day. This five-block long space between 42nd and 47th Streets, also known as “the Crossroads of the World”, is the heart of the Broadway Theater District and a major commercial and tourist destination.

The area is primarily known for brightly lit digital billboards, flashing lights and costumed characters and performers. It is also the center of the universe every New Year’s Eve when the celebration of the Waterford Crystal Ball dropping on the One Times Square building rings in the New Year. Beyond the digital blasting of advertisements there is a relentless electricity among the people too; it is a ‘people watchers’ paradise where everyone is in constant motion. To be sure it is commercialism on steroids but unquestionably a guilty pleasure one must visit when in New York City.
