Fort Delaware State Park – Delaware

Located on Pea Patch Island in the Delaware River, Fort Delaware State Park was created to protect the island and the fort which was originally built (1846) to defend the harbor. Fort Delaware was used during the Civil War to house Confederate prisoners of war. Today there is a ferry which regularly travels to the island where actors in period clothing educate visitors.
