Most of Earlies are machine harvested now - but some still hand harvest for a while to avoid skin damage .
Yields are good - but demand slow at moment .

Backbreaking work Jim - as also for Strawberry pickers and traditional (near the ground) grapes for vino. I recently (early June 2014) visited third oldest Bodega in Andalucía, Spain and saw they now grow the vines slightly higher off the ground - makes for slightly less backbreaking work when harvesting - the older ones they said, almost virtually on the ground level, were better as shielded the soil but only women pick as more flexible then men.
