1798 memorial .jpg

Memorial to 1798 rebellion at foot of Forth Mountian- wit a bit of a question mark re the mountain part .
It was here that the defeated Rebel Army came from Vinegar Hill on June 21 st 1798 .In fact it should have been their HQ - not the exposed Vinegar Hill - where they were surrounded and killed by the thousand on 21 st June . On the retreat to wexford and Forth Mountain - women and children suffered badly - no Geneva convetion then .

Thanks for the background Jim. Just think on how long ago that was and the human race is still abusing women and children - and men who tend to be eliminted without a second thought - all these years later - attrocities on civilians in war zones. Seems the lessons are really never learned.
