baginbun head .jpg

it was here that the Normans landed in 1169 - and stayed for over 700 years . the rhyme
'' At the creek of Baginbun - where Irelands cause was lost and won '' tells story .
the invading Normans were invited in by leinster cheiftan Diarmad Mc murrough . the invading army was small - just 500 aprox - and were confronted by 3,000 Irish . the Normans drove a herd of cattle through the Irish and routed them - then they went on to capture the Viking town of Wexford .
One of the Norman chiefs was killed in the battle - and his lover personally decapitated 30 Irish - and threw their headless bodies over the cliff into the sea . That woman had Attitude . Pity she is not around today - maybe she might be able to deal with some bankers - perhpas in the same way .
