Lady Olga at Ventura

No, she's not a gleaming yacht with cocktails served on the aft deck, and yes, she has some deferred maintenance issues, but the Lady Olga is the kind of old classic fishing boat that fascinates. You can't look at her without wondering about where she has been and the kind of life she has lead. An internet search reveals the Lady Olga is a wooden hulled boat 54.8 feet long, 48 gross tons, built in Seattle in 1948. There are a few photos from her younger days fishing for halibut in Alaska and fishing out of Morro Bay, Santa Barbara, and Ventura--even a couple of paintings from her current life in the Ventura Marina. She still goes fishing after nearly 60 years on a tough job in a harsh environment.
