The ship docked in Warnemunde Germany early this morning. The included tour was to Berlin, but that entailed a five hour RT train ride on a Viking-chartered train getting back at 8 pm. 700 of the 929 passengers opted for that tour. We have seen Berlin, didn’t need to go back so we opted for a tour of Rostock nearby.
Rostock was founded around 1100 and had its heyday during the era of the Hanseatic League losing influence after about 1450. The University of Rostock was founded in 1467.
There were a lot of very well preserved historical structues, but there were also a lot structures with a more modern architecture which was a little disconcerting. Overall, a beautiful little town with a lot of history.
We sail tonight for Copenhagen, Denmark which is only 108 nautical miles away.
