6/12: Russian Dancers

A couple of things to point out here. I went over 100 days taking and posting a photo each day.
But now that comes to an end. This image is from yesterday's Global Village Festival in Irvine.

Secondly, the image has been modified using the technique in Autumn Sky's fine Background Replacement Tutorial.
The original image with ugly background is below. The technique is great, but it took me over an hour to do this!

Finally, click on the thumbnail below to see Marisa's PaD post today.

Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel
1/640s f/9.0 at 109.0mm iso400 full exif

A great shot. Beautiful, and sweet.

This is really beautiful. I love the colors. You did a great job with the background.

That coy smile is fantastic. It looks as if she is coaxing her friend to make a break from Russian dancing. "Ready to do the Windmill and some Headspins?"
Great editting- it really brings the focus to that colorful, impish grin.

Priceless expression! What a shot!

That is so sweet. Friendship is apparent in this pair.

I missed it before, it's lovely.

Great photo, great effect and I want to get one of those cute hats for myself.
Guest 13-Jun-2005 22:33
This is a cracker Jeremy!

This is a very nice photo. Wonderful colours. You have done a good job modifying it. Sometimes a shot is great out of the camera, and some times (most of the time?) it needs some work. Great tutorial.

Perfect!!! Voted!!! Really love this expression.

I love the cheeky glance of the girl in red - I'm so glad you took the time to obliterate that background and linked to the tutorial.
Its been good sharing your pictures - looking forward to seeing more as and when...

Great job on the processing!

Excellent editing Jeremy. You have done a great job. And this image has so beautiful colours and it's so expressive!! Bravo.

Great photo. (I'm surprised you made it through 100 days, considering you have kids. That's impressive. I think the main thing is that one consistently posts good photos, regardless of the number of consecutive days of taking/posting.)

Wonderful colors and great smile! She looks mischevious!
Chris13-Jun-2005 01:43
I think you've used the technique well. The girls in the foreground are so sharp and vivid and removing the distraction from the background brings that even more into focus. Pretty much gives a studio feel out of doors.
Guest 13-Jun-2005 01:35
Nice colors and the mischief of youth is seen in the eyes. Why do you think everybody loves digital. You can fix it the way you want it. See Jeremy this blows it, now everybody knows you are not perfect.

Quite colorful, and I like her expression. Excellent PS work.

too cute.. looks like they are sharing a great secret of some kind.. heh
Guest 13-Jun-2005 00:47
I like it, despite the hard work I think it was time well spent for the results.
A beautiful smile between friends, the story is there.

Great job on this, Jeremy. I agree, it does take a bit of time and something you would do with only a special photo. This is such a photo... the candid expressions are so honest and become our complete focus when the background distractions are removed. Well done!

Very tender photo. Colors are lovely, too.

A sweet sweet moment. Worth every minute.
And an excellent job on the shop shot.
Guest 12-Jun-2005 23:43
Well worth the effort ... great catch! :)
