4/20: Trash Day Eve

Suburban Bliss is not without its responsibilities.
One of those responsibilities is putting these trash bins at the curb on Wednesday night.
If you forget to put them out, you must suffer through a trash pile up for an entire week.
We go through two trash bins and two recycling bins a week.
I am what you call a "consumer".

That's an awesome picture! I love the coloring you chose. Having a trash pile for an entire week is the worst. Wouldn't it be awful if there was no such thing as trash collection? Our world would be a much more disgusting place. http://www.leestrashservice.com

There's been an outcry in our town as they plan to introduce these, replacing black sacks that we just leave out on the kerb. They trialled one or two neighbourhoods, but I think they always knew they would introduce them in all parts of the town as it encourages recycling and helps meet those dreaded government targets. A major downside is that our collections will only be once a fortnight now!

We have these too but they 'bin men' come in and collect them usually - they don't always worry about whether you get one back though so we often come home to find that ours is gone or we have extras!

Humanity is known by its waste..or at least it seems that way sometimes.. cool shot.

Unfortunately, we can't avoid all the packaging waste, even if you're only a modest consumer. And then there's yard cleanup, blah, blah, blah. But you're right, it's one of the dirty sides of daily life.

I hope that you don't consume photographs...
Tor21-Apr-2005 21:03
You certainly are a consumer. We have three trash bins. One for paper (emptied once a month), one for food and things that rot (every other week) and one for the rest (every other week). In addition to that we recycle plastic. Our trash day is Friday, so I am on my way out now to put out the trash. I don't remember which one -I just wheel out the same as my neighbours!
Guest 21-Apr-2005 20:30
But do not consume trash :P
Guest 21-Apr-2005 20:30
Provided if we pay them :)

Topical - was close to being my pad too. We received massive wheely-bins today for garden waste... Would take us over a year to fill it!

where does it all go?? (tomorrow's pic;-)

That's a LOT of trash, sir. But yes, a complete ritual. I live in an apartment complex, so we get a dumptster. Not quite the same cleansing feeling...lol

Some days, everything I shoot is garbage too.
'Garbage Day' is such a cultural ritual in our society - I have this weird 'cleansing feeling' after the garbage guys come and the cans are empty for refilling. Maybe I need therapy. :o)

Our trash day is Thursday, also. I don't set mine out until the morning.

Thanks for your kind comments Jeremy. Unfortunately, I had so many works to do yesterday that I couldn't upload a photo.
I like the angle of this shot. Nice theme and perfect tones too.

That's the same company I have. Don't you dislike those ugly cans--ours are dark brown. They could have made them green to match the grass.

This photo is pure garbage Jeremy! ;-)

Oh shucks, tomorrow's my day, and I forgot my stickers. And getting it together. See ya....
Chris21-Apr-2005 03:21
Pfft. Don't the hermit crabs live in their trash?
Definitely true to the title of your PAD. Skillet and I only get half a can a week full and less than that in recycled junk.

LOL @Virignia Coastline. Same question from me. A bit of incredulity!
virginiacoastline21-Apr-2005 01:45
you PERSONALLY fill two a week?? OR your family does? That's quite a bit of dispoable stuff =]
