These lotus flowers at Wangcong Temple at Dujiangyan in Sichuan Province of China, are among the biggest I have seen to-date.

Perhaps not the conventional way to shoot a flower from the side, instead of the usual top-down POV, but I liked the effect of the light shining through the flower seen sideways, making it looked like it was glowing from within its own petals. In any case, I couldn’t have taken a picture of these lotus flowers from the top even if I had wanted to, because they were growing up from the pond as tall as me!
