Longgong National Park

LONGGONG NATIONAL PARK

The Longgong National Park located near Anshun covers an area of about 60 square kilometres. The main attractions in the park are the 'Dragon Palace Cave' (Longgong), claimed to be the longest river karst cave in China, and the 'Dragon-Gate Flying Waterfall'.

You enter the 'Dragon Palace Cave' by paddle boat from Tianchi ('Heavenly Lake') located at the mouth of the Cave. The Cave is actually a group of five successive water-eroded karst (limestone) caverns connected by an underground river of over 3-km in length. The depth of the river can reach up to 28 metres at its deepest. The narrowest part of the caverns is only two metres in width, while the tallest cavern is over 80 metres high. Only the first two caverns are open to the public currently.
