Our desperate attempt to reach Ramy’s parents using our cellphone atop Chipmunk Ridge was an absolute failure. So, Jenn, Ramy and Boston had to make the 5hr round trip back to Foresthill to make the call.

Shelby, Tucker and I remained back at camp. As the temps rose we decided to head down to the Middle Fork of the American River to cool off. The Middle Fork is what feeds French Meadows Reservoir. The water was extremely cold since it was mostly snow runoff … but that didn’t stop us from wading in.

We adopted Tucker when he was already 4yrs old. When we first took him home he was extremely afraid of water. With each camping trip he’s become a little braver around the water. He is now more than happy to splash around in water that is a few inches deep, as long as he doesn’t have to swim.
