2015 Christmas Tree Pageant
Thanks for all the Christmas Tree submissions! There were 44 Christmas Trees entries this year. Our family was so excited to see all the Christmas Trees from friends and family all across Canada.
The judging criteria was determined a few weeks ago with the intention of giving all trees a fair chance at winning. Some of the entries were very stunning, but may not have scored well based on the judging criteria. If your tree was scored incorrectly please know that it was an honest mistake. Every effort was made to score each tree as high as possible. Please do not be offended if your tree did not score as high as you would have hoped. All of these Christmas trees (with a few exceptions) are beautiful in their own unique way. This contest was all in good fun, and to help out a charity along the way.
The Judging Criteria
Keep in mind that a perfect score of 20 points is not possible since some of the criteria contradict each other.Partial points may be awarded at the judges discretion
The Doxtater family wishes everyone a Happy Holidays and all the best in 2016!

*** TIED FOR THIRD PLACE ***
Yep, The kids definitely decorated this tree! The tree topper danced his way into third place!
Total points 8.2
Another amazing tree! Near perfect in every way. Ignore the score ... this is a very nice tree!
Total points 8.4
Another dog? This dog does not look happy as evidenced by the droopy antlers! This is a great tree but the picture is a way over exposed!
Total points 7.4
The tallest tree by far! I'm certain you need a permit from the city for a tree this size.
Total points 8.6
Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue Christmas..
Total points 7.8
Love the topper!
Total points 6.5
Charlie Brown Christmas 1965 - Lucy Van Pelt "I never eat December snowflakes. I always wait until January."
Total points 9.5
*** FIFTH PLACE ***
If you can still see the tree, you still have room for more ornaments!
Total points 4.5
You know that time late in the evening when having a few drinks when you should just go the bed. This picture was taken a few a hours AFTER that time. This deserves a zero but since someone went through the effort of submitting this let's grade it anyways...
Total points 8.9
Sandy's (the dog) no cat food diet is really paying off. She looks great for the holidays! Very nice Christmas tree!
Total points 7.2
This tree was a top candidate for Charlie Brown tree of the year ... until someone submitted an actual Charlie Brown tree! Sometimes less is more, this tree was one of my favourites!
Total points 8.5
Baby Elena's very first Christmas!
Total points 6 ?
This tree looks like it had a rough night. I also wonder about that gift under the tree? It looks a little suspicious. This tree proves that my judging criteria is severely flawed.
Total points 1.7 (sorry)
You pretty much missed every category! I feel like there should be cookies in this picture? Where are the cookies!
Total points 6.1
A very nice tree natural tree. A tree skirt and some candy canes and gifts would have boosted the score!
Total points 8
Okay, this is a little creepy. I think there may be a family of dogs out there that have figured out how to navigate the complexities of modern life without human intervention. This picture is innocent enough at first glance, a whippet in front of a tree, nothing too unusual about that. But then you notice that almost all of the ornaments are also dogs ... and then ... an astute observer would also notice that all the family portraits on the wall are paintings of dogs! Woof Woof!
Total points 8.3
Winner of Yuppy Puppy of the year! I had to penalize this tree because of the smug look on this dog face. Also the double fireplace is a little over the top. Somewhere in this picture you may find a Christmas Tree, that was the point of this contest....
Total points 8.5
An outstanding tree! The score does not do this tree justice! Full Martha Stewart points!
Total points 8.3
If Santa Claus and Frosty the Snowman somehow managed to have a baby ... and that little Christmas baby got sick and threw up ... it would look like this tree! If I was allowed to decorate the Christmas tree in my house, this is what it would look like!
Total points 9
Double yawning dogs get me everytime! Great tree!
Total points 9.7
*** TIED FOR FOURTH PLACE ***
Is that a balloon on the tree? That's a first. This tree has it all (except a candy cane?), and look at the presents! Well Done!
Total points 6.5
I think this picture was taken out the window of a moving car....
Total points 9.8
*** TIED FOR THIRD PLACE ***
Ady's Tree! So cute...
Total points 6
I think this is a dog taking a selfie!?!
Total points 5.8
This tree proves that you can never have too much tinsel! Or can you?
Total points 6
Another poor quality picture, until you realize this picture is from 1938! Hey they even had electricity!
Total points 10.3
*** WINNER! FIRST PLACE! WINNER! ***
Submitted by the Van Diepen Family from Green Meadows PEI. $100 has been donated to the Anderson House in Charlottetown, PEI

Okay I said that the best looking tree may not win ... and here is the proof. Not that this isn't a spectacular Christmas because it is, and it somehow managed to score in more categories than any other tree! Congrats!!!
Total points 7.7
Where are the presents?!? This tree is sooo lonely...
Total points 9
Who is the Elf?
Total points 10
*** SECOND PLACE! WELL DONE ***
Pretty much the perfect Christmas tree. If this was a normal Christmas Tree pageant, this would likely be the winner. Thank-you for this beautiful entry!
Total points 6
Somebody needs a maid!
Total points 5.5
The low points can probably be blamed on the fact the photographer is standing 235ft away from the tree! What's up with that. Next time I will use google map's satellite photos to review this tree.
Total points 5.5
Mele Kalikimaka!
Total points 7
This is a spectacular tree. It would not look out of place in the lobby of the Chateau Laurier! But after careful analysis, all is not perfect! What is going on with that rogue bulb in the lower left hand corner! C'mon MOM! I expected better!!! Sadly I had to penalize this tree for the carelessness.
DUPLICATE
This is a duplicate picture of another entry. I left this picture up since this is how Christmas looks for parents at 5:30AM on Christmas morning after being up wrapping presents till 3:00AM. Also it is a cool picture
Total points 7.3
Jenn says "It looks way better in person!". Brent says "Not not so much..." Jenn responds "That hurts my Christmas Heart."
Total points 9.7
*** TIED FOR FOURTH PLACE ***
Holiday House Rules, Snow Globes, AND A Christmas train! Lucky!!
Total points 7
A really fun tree! Sadly I had to penalize for the poor wrapping job on those presents. Did someone run out of tape?
Total points 8.3
Someone had to submit the worst quality picture of their tree. Congrats...
Total points 6.5
It's really hard to decorate a tree properly with garland. This tree proves my theory...
Total points 7.3
Where is the cat? Where are all the cats! Too many dog's this year. Next year the winning tree will have a cat!
Total points 5.2
That is either a very small tree or a very large glass of wine. Cheers...
Total points 6.8
Best implementation of ribbon!
Total points 7.6
An exceptional example of an East Coast Christmas Tree! Candy Canes and Ribbons would have made this tree a contender!
