I knew I should have learned the sign for “rare” and taught it to Renu because one never knows what one will see on a dive. When we saw the resident sea horse at “Blue Wall” all I could do was to spell “R-A-R-E” on my hand. It was a beautiful yellow sea horse nestled away in the reef. We would have swum right past it if it wasn’t for Clark, our dive master. I know it’s all about paying attention to details but I won’t refuse a tip from time to time.
The dives were glorious today but I have been even more impressed with Renu’s comfort in the water. She has a level of control that of a much more experienced diver. It’s gotten to the point where Renu is pointing out camouflaged fish of which I swim right past.
I’ve been reflecting today on “rarity”…a hidden seahorse, a beautiful corner of the aquatic world, and a lovely person with whom to share it.
