Though I got to revisit the Gunks for my birthday, this time it was with a welcomed twist.
In the past, I spent my Gunks nights sleeping on dirt at the multi-use area by the cliffs. Though the proximity to the climbs was fantastic, it was often impossible to be rested for the next day's adventures. One would either have to endure the loud antics of inebriated neighbors or the horn-honking of locals driving by at 3 am (for some odd reason, many teenagers residing in the town of New Paltz find waking up campers entertaining or consider it sport).
But, this time, Renu arranged for us to stay at the Lefevre House. Although I still cannot pronounce the name, this historic home-turned-bed & breakfast was a lovely change. Once again, Renu has helped me to hold on to old passions and traditions while perhaps appreciating a slightly different approach to it!
