Bad things happen. And sometimes REALLY bad things happen. Katrina was one of them.
As English philosopher Edmund Burke said, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." In this case, the hurricane may not have been evil, but it certainly destroyed many lives and spirits.
In this case, Michele (who is, by the way, a good woman...rather than a good man) certainly did not stand by, doing nothing.
We are over a thousand miles away from the site of devastation. But, to Michele and some of her colleagues, the people affected down there are still "community". So, though much time and energy, they sold Mardi Gras beads to raise money for a children's hospital that was severely affected. And, by doing so, they have raised many spirits as well.
