Many of us go through life accumulating things just for the sake of having them...aka "wealth". Joe, on the other hand, has things so he can utilize them. Sell climbing gear that is not currently needed to buy season pass for the ski resort which he will use...makes sense to me. The point is, resources are often limited (especially for a starving college student-see how thin he is) and we all have to make personal choices. I'll try very hard to remember this point. Maybe I'll have the good judgement to duct tape my sandals as well when their time comes.
