An Unusual Sight

January 3, 2006

Today when I got back to work after lunch, several people were gathered in the parking lot, obviously looking at something of interest. I got out of my car and someone pointed the to top of this tree. I am not sure what kind of birds these are, I think some kind of crane. They are not a common sight here in central California. We watched them for several minutes. A short time later, the security told me, they all just flew off.

This is stunning - it is almost as if the rest of the birds are waiting for the on to dry its wings - some seem to be waiting more patiently than others.

Looks like they might be Cattle Egrets. The general shape and coloring are right. Nice catch.
