The Greater Riverwood Ecosystem (GRE) is home to about 40 head of deer. I define the GRE as including all of the area this deer herd utilizes; this includes an area bounded by the QEW in the south, Streetsville in the north, Creditview Road in the east and Erin Mills Parkway in the west. A huge area really! In the spring Riverwood itself might have 10 or more deer feeding during green up but it is likely home to only three or four deer most of the year. The bucks range over all of the GRE and perhaps beyond, the does and their female kin have their own special areas that they return to fawn in the spring. Perhaps two or three does actually give birth in Riverwood proper.
These pictures are arranged in "seasonal" order beginning with winter (January) and ending in winter (December). They were not taken is anyone year. I've been chronicling the lives of these deer for several year and what you see are selected images from among the 1000's of images shot.
