JUL-1974 NOT Mine!!!

British Airways Super VC-10: What a Surprize!

London Heathrow Airport view map

BEA and BOAC just merged.
I went to England to prepare my University moving next year, and I was in for a surprize!
I had a BA ticket, but didn't know what airplane I was flying!
When I boarded the Super VC-10 I was really surprized! A lot of space, and what a delight and silence flying!
I know it is difficult to judge from just I flight I did (return was on another aircraft I sincerely cannot remember...), but it seems to me as one of the BEST to fly on! Not only very silent and confortable, but extremely stable, particularly on turbulence! Approaching and landing in London was under very heavy rain, I was astonished how the VC-10 performed after lowering the flaps, as if an human hand was holding the airplane, steady, very very steady! How so unlike the Boeing! A real delight
The Soviets copied this plane as the Ilyushin 62, but what a difference! I flew it latter, in 1991, and was one of the worst!
