I've been trying to capture these amazingly detailed flowers in different ways. All of my photos have been out in the field, so I've had to contend with the wind which always seems to blow these heavy flowers around (and due to the wind almost all of these were hand held - no tripod).
The color variations found in these flowers (even all the different colors of one specific bloom) are incredible. I learned while doing my photography that there are at least 2,000 varieties of Iris flowers.
For many of the photos here I chose to get extremely close to the flowers, again to capture some of the details that are often overlooked. I also noticed how interesting they are when you look straight down on them - they almost turn into a completely different flower! With some of the photos I chose to shoot with very little in focus to help create a more soft, dreamy appearance.
