November 30, 2003"Take Me to Your Leader"
Jonah being silly, so I took it a step further in Photoshop. |
 November 29, 2003"Not Tall Enough"
Josh and Jonah are my oldest two of three boys. Jonah couldn't reach and had to wait for me to give him a lift... |
 November 29, 2003"Goalie"
This guy is the opposing team's goalie. He was very busy... CC won the game 4-0, freshman goalie Zaba's first shutout. |
 November 29, 2003"Faceoff"
We went to the Colorado College hockey game last night at the World Arena. I wanted to watch the game and take pictures, my three boys wanted to wrestle in the stands and whine about not having a big foam "We're #1" finger glove thing. We left after two periods to go get chicken nuggets... Life with young children, I wouldn't trade it for anything! :) |
 November 29, 2003"Hockey Fan"
Colorado College hockey fan at the game... |
 Vacation Pic 16"Indy Circle"
These were two shots from Downtown Indy. The Photoshop work isn't that great (I was in a hurry), but I think it is a fun, if not weird, image. |
 Vacation Pic 15"Indiana Sunset"
I shot this at my sister's house in Pendleton, Indiana. It is two shots stitched together in Panorama Factory. There are almost no changes to color/saturation/contrast/etc. Nearly straight out of the camera. I did do a minor levels adjustment, and that was it! |
 Vacation Pic 14"Indiana Sunset Two"
Same sunset, but this is a five shot pano stitch... |
 Vacation Pic 13"Aubrey"
|
 Vacation Pic 12"Downtown Indianapolis Two"
This is the Court House and Post Office near the Circle... Early morning lighting provided the highlights and shadows... |
Vacation Pic 11"Four Sisters and a Mom"
This is my wife Tracy, my sister Shelli, my Mom Sharon, my sister Jorenda, and my sister-in-law Stefi! Notice they are all wearing the same necklace!
This shot won a POTD at www.bestfoto.com on December 09, 2003!! |
 Vacation Pic 10"Treasure Among Trash"
I spotted this 60's era Chevy Pickup among a rather messy 'estate' in Indiana. I drive a '69 Chevy Pickup and love old trucks! This one is very nice... (much nicer than mine, but my yard isn't a disaster!) |
 Vacation Pic 9"Beautiful Tracy"
Tracy was pushing our youngest (Ethan) in the swing and I caught her as she glanced up at me... |
 Vacation Pic 8"Manhole Cover II"
Another manhole cover, but this one is near the memorials in downtown Indianapolis... |
Vacation Pic 7"Hanging Out with Baby Jesus"
We went to the Circle in Indianapolis. There is a beautiful Episcopal church there, built in 1837. This is their nativity display outside. Our boys decided to be part of the scene, and this is Jonah hanging out with Baby Jesus! We try to encourage our boys to experience life instead of just observing it. I hope people perceive it as developing creativity and imagination, rather than being disrespectful. |
 Vacation Pic 6"Downtown Indianapolis One"
|
 Vacation Pic 5"Aubrey with Friends"
These are Aubrey's school friends. I remember piling all these guys into my car and taking them to the movies when they were in 5th grade. Much older and uglier now, but still lots of fun. LOL!! |
 Vacation Pic 4"Classic Aubrey"
At Aubrey's welcome home party... |
 Vacation Pic 3"Four Brothers"
This is Brady, me, Aubrey, and Scott at Aubrey's welcome home party at Donnie's Place in Pendleton, Indiana. Brady and Scott are Aubrey and I's brothers-in-law. Don't ask me what Brady is doing... |
Vacation Pic 2This is Stefi, my very beautiful and very sweet sister-in-law from Germany. My brother was also in this photo, but I cloned him out! LOL |
Vacation Pic 1"Home Safe from Iraq"
This is my brother Aubrey and his wife Stefi. We just visited with them in Indiana. Aubrey was injured in Iraq and has been recovering in Germany. We are so thankful that he is OK and that we had this time to visit!
This shot won second place at DPChallenge for their "Giving Thanks" challenge on December 5, 2003! |
November 17, 2003"Alexis Mountain Board Sports"
Alexis is the 16 year old daughter of our friends Paul and Heather. She had a design project to do for school, and I helped her with the woodworking part of it. Her dad used to work at Mountain Board Sports, and she is making her own board. Incidentally, my wife grew up with Jason, the inventor and owner of MBS. My wife skateboarded with him all the time when they were kids, and she said he was the crazy kid in the neighborhood. He was on the Ripley's Believe It or Not show recently, jumping a mountain board over a pit of alligators. I talked to him about it a couple weeks ago at the Raven's Nest Coffe Shop... it was just another day for him... no big deal! |
November 17, 2003"Middle of the Street in my Pajamas!"
I was getting my three boys ready for school this morning, and I saw that it was an overcast day. About 15 minutes later, I caught a glimpse out the kitchen window of Pikes Peak shining in the most beautiful colors! I grabbed the camera and ran outside and took a couple of shots. If it looks like I was in the middle of the street, I was. ...in my pajamas, even. I accidentally left the camera on 1600 ISO from the gecko shot yesterday, and I missed the peak colors, but it is still a decent shot. It is nice to see this view every day, even with the power lines, street lamps, and other distractions! (not to mention the traffic bearing down on me!) |
 November 16, 2003"Tokay Gecko"
This is Jack, our resident reptile. I didn't feel like taking any shots today, but I got the camera out anyway. Jack was sitting there in an accessible spot in his environment. Seemed like a good subject on an unmotivated day... |
November 15, 2003This is Tiki our pet parakeet. I airbrushed white over the distracting background... |
 November 15, 2003"Just a Little Help"
This reminds me of a shot in the Middle East somewhere... This was just a couple enjoying a little quiet time in Palmer Park, with the Rocky Mountains in the background. |
 November 15, 2003"Colorado"
...or at least the start of it, from another manhole cover. |
 November 15, 2003"Pikes Peak"
Not a pano, just one shot this time. I took the boys up to the top of Palmer Park to play at the overlook. This is how the mountain looked today. |
 Jonah eyes rose"From the Archives"
I didn't take any photos today... Here is a Photoshop image from last year. |
 November 13, 2003"Fence and Shovel"
My wife attached some old, worn out garden tools to the fence around the garden. This is a view of one of the shovels, or at least part of it. |
 November 12, 2003"Christ the King"
This is a detail shot of a very intricate and ornate wooden carved sculpture. The beauty of it is something that has to be seen in person. I will post a shot of the entire sculpture...
The book of Acts states that we are already living in the End Times, and that was 2000 years ago. When Jesus returns, we will all stand in judgement before God. Will you be ready to account for your life? |
November 12, 2003"Grace and St Stephens Episcopal Church
Stained Glass Detail 1"
I was invited by Rev Theron Walker to take photographs inside the sanctuary of this church, which was built in 1898. It is so beautiful, breath taking even... There is no way my images can truly convey the overwhelming beauty of this magnificent structure! |
November 12, 2003"Grace St Stephens Episcopal Church"
This is a 7 shot pano stitched together with Panorama Factory 3.0. This church was built in 1898.
This shot is a finalist in the www.fredmiranda.com Monthly challenge for "Long Exposures". |
November 12, 2003"Grace and St Stephens Episcopal Church
Stained Glass Detail 2"
I was invited by Rev Theron Walker to take photographs inside the sanctuary of this church, which was built in 1898. It is so beautiful, breath taking even... There is no way my images can truly convey the overwhelming beauty of this magnificent structure! |
 November 11, 2003"Balloon Man"
I don't know this man's name, but he sits outside Starbucks in Downtown Colorado Springs and makes balloons for kids. He has done it for several years, and will probably do it for many more! |
 November 10, 2003"Western Gargoyle"
I noticed this detail on an old building in downtown Colorado Springs. The details are wonderful! Which version do you like best with respect to color? |

13828-Orig-Pbase.jpgPer Jeanne's request, here is the image straight from the camera. This is resized with no other adjustments. I had to do quite a bit of perspective adjustments with the EDIT>TRANSFORM>SKEW function in Photoshop, then cropped pretty aggressively to get the edited versions. |
 November 10, 2003 |
November 9, 2003"A Place of Worship"
We go to Rocky Mountain Calvary Chapel here in Colorado Springs. The thought behind this still life is that church can be anywhere. You can pray or worship anywhere, anytime... A church building is optional. |
November 9, 2003"Color, Wood, and Light"
My kids left these on the dining table. We have Mission style table and chairs, and the slits of light were shining through the back of the chair stiles. I desaturated the wood in Photoshop and increased the contrast to make the colorful crayons stand out better.
This image won a POTD on November 14, 2003 at www.DigitalPhotoContest.com!! |
 November 8, 2003"12th and Lincoln"
One of Tracy's friends from college was being inducted into their Hall of Fame for Industrial Designers. We went to the ceremony, but were running late due to traffic. We arrived to find the building evacuated due to a fire alarm. No real fire, but the delay allowed us to be there for the ceremony after all! |
 November 8, 2003"Drudge Report"
I was excited about winning a first place ribbon at www.dpchallenge.com, but I had no idea it would make headlines! |
 November 7, 2003"Manhole Cover"
What PAD site would be complete without a manhole cover and a parking meter. One down, looking for an interesting parking meter now! |
November 7, 2003"Keeping Up With My Brothers"
Ethan has two older brothers, and has had a hard time keeping up, until now. He is one tough kid... When they make him mad, he runs them down, tackles them, then pounds on them. We need to put a stop to that, although the two older boys have deserved it for soooooo long! |
November 6, 2003"Garden of the Gods - Pikes Peak"
I got up at 5:00am and headed for the Mesa Overlook to take this shot in the early morning light. It was freezing cold, and overcast. I decided to stay anyway, thinking the sun would burn through the cloud cover. During an hour and a half, I had about 10 minutes of light on the rock formations! This is a 13 shot pano, achieving a 33" x 9" print size at 300dpi with no upsizing! Take a look at 'original' size. Lots of details, although it still does not compare to the image prior to reduction for web display.
This shot won a POTD at www.digitalphotocontest.com on January 21, 2004! |
 November 6, 2003"Drive By Shooting"
This shot was fired on Saturday November 1st while about 25 people were in the shop. Luckily, it was just some kids with a BB gun and not a larger caliber weapon. |
 November 5, 2003"St. Mary's Cathedral"
This is the South facing facade of the St. Mary's Cathedral in Colorado Springs, CO. I used three layers, two of them were black and white and the base layer was color. The two BW layers had varying opacities and blending modes. |
 November 5, 2003"Coke and Beer"
Six shot pano of a delivery at Cheers Liquor Mart... |
November 4, 2003"The World Goes By"
These two women met for coffee at the Raven's Nest. The World passed them by, leaving them in peace for an hour or so... |
 November 3, 2003"Strike a Pose"
Jonah decided this was a photo worthy pose. When he decides he wants his picture taken, it is usually pretty interesting to see what he does. He makes his own poses and facial expressions as he sees fit. Reminds me of the movie Zoolander with Ben Stiller, because Jonah's serious poses are usually pretty rediculous! |
 November 2, 2003"A Lost Opportunity"
As parents, we have endless opportunities to interact with and shape our children into who they will be as adults. I like this shot, as it represents a lost chance for interaction that can rever be regained.
(Disclaimer... I do not know this family, but they did have a great time together. This photo does not represent their relationship from what I could see! My comments above represent what I see in this image, not what I saw of their time together at the book store! No offense intended.)

 November 2, 2003"So Many Choices"
Josh and Jonah are amazed with the number of choices at the bookstore! |
 November 1, 2003"The Chase"
Quinn is a working dog, being mostly Blue Heeler (Austrailian Cattle Dog). She needs to get her exercise and do her work. Here is a shot of her herding Josh. She is so fast and he is so slow, it really isn't much work for her. |
 November 1, 2003"Sugar Crash"
I realize this is a snapshot, but I couldn't resist. With all of the toys and books, you would think this busy three year old is just tired, but I know better. He had way too much Halloween candy, and this is the resulting crash (after the sugar high, much resembling the Tasmanian Devil tornado in the cartoons). |
