Hi Sharon. I use Photoshop 7.0. I airbrushed white over the background and didn't worry too much if it overlapped the bird. I then erased away the overlap with a soft edged brush. I then selected the bird and copied it to a new layer. I gave it a slight drop shadow. And that's it!

Great pic! what program did you use for the background airbrushing? I can never get mine to look so good - so natural.
