At the base of the large rock formation, there is a very porous area. Many thousands of gallons of water flow through this area every hour. They have never found any place where this water surfaces outside the park. Note that there are no rivers flowing into crater Lake. All its water comes from rain and snow, so the water flowing out here keeps Crater Lake at a very stable depth.
