Once in our hotel, we looked at the Aurora forecast from the Geophysical Institute, University of Alaska Fairbanks. It showed a "Moderate" level of 6, centered right over Kotzebue that night. So, we got up at 2:00 AM and went outside. Unfortunately, no aurora. However, even at that time in the morning, you could see the sunset/sunrise colors and light on the horizon!
