On 4-21-26, we took a flight from Santiago to Punto Arenas, to be picked up there by the rest of the members of the tour. We then headed for the Estancia (hotel) that we would be staying at. Unfortunately, I did not have my camera adjusted properly, so most of my photos that day were blurry, but I got a couple of photos of Rheas (related to Ostriches), and one of the Estancia we would stay at, The Estancia photo is just of the check-in area and the dining area. The next morning we headed out to see the large group of mountains in Torres del Paine National Park. The group of mountains are very similar to the Grand Tetons in Wyoming. We got to a good viewpoint just as the sun was starting to rise, so I got a great shot of the clouds, and then a shot of the mountains. Then later in the morning, I got a good shot of a Guanaco. Guanacos are related to the domestic Llama and Alpaca. They are also a favorite food for Pumas! On our way back to the Estancia for lunch, a Puma crossed the roadway we were on. It moved rather quickly, so I didn’t get a great shot, but at least I got one and it was my first Puma of the trip! BTW: The guides & tracker all have names for Pumas they are familiar with, so I will include the name with my Puma photos. This Poma is named Frost because of its light grey color. After lunch, I got a couple of Crested Caracara birds (member of the Falconidae family), a Gaucho posing for photos along the highway, another Guanaco, and clouds.
