Crater Lake National Park and Umpqua River, Feb, 2020
Crater Lake had just gotten several feet of new snow and they hoped to have the road open to the rim by Sunday afternoon, Feb 16, 2020. So we drove down on Monday morning and got there early afternoon that day. There was lots of new snow, and the roads were "mostly plowed". A few places it was only wide enough for one car at a time, but was fine. We spent about 3 hours there. Our dog, Maizy, had a hard time except on packed trails so she sat in the car the last couple of hours and was happy to do so. We had a nice sunny day so it looked great. We spent the night in a Best Western in White City (near Medford), Oregon, which accepted pets. The next day we returned via Hwy 138 along the Umpqua River as coming that way we had seen a number of areas we wanted to stop for photos, but wanted to get to Crater Lake first.
