Craters of the Moon, ID

Craters of the Moon N.M., Idaho
Want to pay homage to Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin’s trip to the moon?
Craters of the Moon National Monument in central Idaho is the most lunarlike landscape you can visit in the U.S.
Formed by volcanic eruptions more than 15,000 years ago, the lava field extends over 600 square miles.
More recent eruptions — up to 2,000 years ago — created cinder cones and lava tubes.
