My husband, SFC Edward Tkacz, was stationed at Camp King with the 513th MI Corp Group from 1959 to 1062. I and our three sons, Ed, Mike and Pat, were with him, of course, and have many great memories from that time. Ed passed away in 1999, he was a veteran of WWII and Korea, retired from the Army in 1964. While at Camp King he was attached to the QM Intelligence, but was very active in camp life. He was manager of the Camp King Little League team and won the Frankfurt Post Little League championship in 1962. We still have the trophies to prove it. He also was secretary of the Men's Bowling League, and eventually took on management of the bowling center in his off time. I was eventually president of the NCO Wives Club, and Ed and Mike learned their Latin and served at altar boys in the chapel. If there is anyone out there who remembers that time, it would be fun to hear from you. silver.ladynct@yahoo.com

My name is Thomas Watts I served in the US Army and was stationed at Camp King from 1966-1969. In this picture thier are 3 buildings the one way in the back up on the "Hill" is the old Camp King chapel..the one down from it use to be the Camp King nursery..the big one is where I use to work but of course not that building it's where the Camp King US Army Mess Hall sat! Can you believe this?? I can't!! Not in my wildest dreams would I ever think that 40 years later I would be on a computer looking at something that I thought would never happen! My wife was one of the day care workers at that day care center. I have alot of memories of that old mess hall...one of my favorites was in 1968 when we gave a going away party for a friend of ours because from their he had orders to go to Vietnam at that time, his name was SGT.Rob Gates. He was so surprised that when he stood up and gave a speech in the middle of the Mess Hall he actually broke down and cried saying..this was the happiest day of my life because he never had any family to do something like this for him..we were his family he said. This brought tears to all of our eyesalso..something that I will never forget!

So I guess life goes on now...and that old mess hall that once stood on the piece of land where that new building sits..is all in my memories now. Me & the wife now reside in Montana and once in awhile we will come back to these old Camp King sites and try to live in the past like it's real......

We miss the place and all those great memories!

God Bless all of you who lived on that Famous post during the American era...a time where you can say life was at it's best!

Love,

Tom & Linda
