Dave -- software? I'm a purist -- I pasted a white dot onto a print and scanned it.
As for the gray dot, it's nothing a little Windex won't take care of.

Jason, methinks this is faked: it looks as if you pasted a white dot in the image using a tool in photo-editing software. I like the dark gray dot above and to the left of it.
