Like most, Prague Castle was built and rebuilt over hundreds of years, subject to expansions, fires, and the whims of kings and empresses. Every government has had its seat here, and many rulers are buried here. This part of the complex serves as the president's residence and (no surprise) the seat of the current city and national governments.
