A Cruise Up the Rhine River

We finally took our first cruise.
Charlie and I decided to try out a Viking Cruise up the Rhine River.
While we loved it and had a great time we both feel we prefer to stay in a city or area a few days to get a better feel for a place.
The weather we had was challenging.
Lots of rain and quite cold but it didn’t stop us from seeing the sights.
We did have a few beautiful days.
Fortunately the day we cruised on the river to view the twenty castles that can can be seen from the Rhine was a nice day.
Our trip started from Amsterdam and ended Basel.
Had we understood the cruising world better we would have arrived in Amsterdam a day before the cruise started to spend more time there.
At the end of the cruise we would have stayed in Basel for a day to explore that city.
Live and learn, next time.

Despite the challenging weather, you did take a lot of good pictures. Singapore is also a cruise hub for the region, but mostly ocean cruises only and not river cruises like this on the Rhine. The ocean cruise ship sails for a whole day and/or night, and you can only see the ocean & sky and feel the sea breezes. Then it may stop for a day at destination spots like Phuket, Halong Bay, or Penang etc where we can disembark for a land tour ... V

If I could ask for one improvement to PBase it would be for the slideshow feature to be updated to include (a) selectable size, and (b) an option to include the descriptions. This gallery was enjoyable as a slideshow, and would have been perfect in a "modern" slideshow), but the problem with the "classic" slideshow is that it lacked your interesting descriptions. Using the cursor to navigate caused a lag in the rendering time and all the user interface clutter. Actually I might make that a feature request. Not that I expect it to happen, but it probably does no harm to ask.

We did that cruise a couple of years ago, supposedly in late summer early autumn, the weather wasn't much better than you are describing, but the scenery made up for the bad weather. Our cruise went to Budapest.

I really like the pictures starting in Koblenz and from the Rhine River Valley with your keen eye for the beauty. Although the weather was not picture perfect you got some really atmospheric moments there on your boat! This part of Germany is the most beautiful! I lived there for almost 20 years and miss it very much! Thanks for time travel back of memories! VV
